Chinese ‘Venice’——Zhou Zhuang(周庄)

Zhouzhuang, one of the most famous water townships in China, situated in Kunshan City which is only 30 kilometers (18 miles) southeast of Suzhou. It is noted for its profound cultural background, the well preserved ancient residential houses, the elegant watery views and the strong local colored traditions and customs. Zhouzhuang is a popular tourist destination, classified as a AAAAA scenic area by the China National Tourism Administration.It is one of the most famous water townships in China, noted for its profound cultural background, the well preserved ancient residential houses and the elegant watery views.It has been called the "Venice of the East".

于2003年被评为中国历史文化名镇,最为著名的景点有:沈万三故居、富安桥、双桥、沈厅、怪楼、周庄八景等。


 周庄是中国江南一个具有九百多年历史的水乡古镇,而正式定名为周庄镇,却是在清康熙  周庄美景

始建于1086年的古镇周庄,因邑人周迪功先生捐地修全福寺而得名,春秋时为吴王少子摇的封地,名为贞丰里,是隶属于江苏省昆山市和上海交界处的一个典型的江南水乡小镇,江南六大古镇之一
